About Dr Raoul Goldberg

dr-raoul-goldbergMy greatest passion in life is to help people help themselves and thereby help others. At the Path to Health my medical practice, cancer centre  and training institute have been set up to do this.

I graduated as a medical doctor in 1974 at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and thereafter trained for seven years in anthroposophically integrative clinics in Switzerland and Germany in general medicine, paediatrics, cancer therapy, nutritional therapy and psychiatry. This training also involved finding a deep connection with the therapeutic arts, therapeutic eurythmy, rhythmic massage, the manufacture of natural medicine and the world of nature. Later I trained in homeopathy, integrative medicine, acupuncture, clinical nutrition, psychotherapeutic counselling, and functional medicine.

Since 1983, I have been working in an integrative general practice in Cape Town as a specialist practitioner in integrative medicine, as a school doctor for the Waldorf School Movement and as a participatory / psychophonetic counsellor.

I am also passionate about the care and protection of children and have lectured widely and written many articles on subjects related to child health and child development. My first book Awakening to Child Health Part 1 was published in 2009. Part 2 will deal with Contemporary Health Disturbances in Childhood and Adolescence and Part 3 Contemporary Therapeutic Approaches to Health Disturbances in Childhood and Adolescence. My second book Addictions in Childhood and Young Adults – the struggle for Freedom  was published in 2011. A third book on Participatory Health is soon to be published.

I am actively promoting and teaching a way to deepen experience called Participatory Awareness  based on sharpening and strengthening the natural functions of human experience.  On this foundation I am practising a style of medicine which I call Participatory Medicine and make use of the PATH Method  to explore subconscious and superconscious levels of human experience. Please see www.pathmethod.com for more.

Since 2016 I have been engaged in a PhD in California USA in Integral and Transpersonal Psychology and will soon be running a research study in Cape Town to investigate the effect of  PATH Method Counselling in reducing stress in cancer patients
